The oldest national park in Slovakia will celebrate its 75th anniversary this year. This jubilee was also one of the impulses for the employees of the Tatra National Park to prepare an event dedicated exclusively to this park. It will be a celebration of Tatra nature, its diversity and excellence, but also a celebration of those who lovingly take care of it and protect it. Employees of the TANAP will introduce interesting secrets of the natural world and the activities they engage in at workplaces and in the field.

So far, there has been no event that would be organized exclusively under the direction of "TANAP people" and at which they would have space to present their workplaces and activities. For the first time since its inception, the Days of the Tatra National Park will be held from May 2 to May 4, 2024. Through TANAP Days, they will strive for two things - to point out the natural treasures of the oldest national park in Slovakia and to present the activities of their organization. In addition, TANAP is celebrating the 75th anniversary of its foundation this year, which is an excellent impetus for something like this.

The TANAP employees have chosen the May date for the event, and the venue will be several locations to bring the diversity of the national park to the public. The fact that TANAP stretches from Orava through Liptov to Spiš is often forgotten. The first part of the event is dedicated to school youth. At the end of the first work week in May, pupils from Orava schools will have eight stops, during which they will learn more about nature and its protection over the course of two days.

There will also be events for adults. In the early evening of Thursday, in the Cultural House in Zuberec, they will listen to interesting presentations by TANAP staff, including those who work directly in this part of the Tatras. Together with the nature guard, they will get a glimpse into the mysterious world of animals through camera traps. Entry to this part of the event is free.

On the first Saturday of May, the event continues in the area of the High Tatras and Liptov. Here, in the form of guided walks, participants will learn more directly from experts. More and less well-known places and workplaces will be on offer, such as the Tatra Nature Exhibition, the Center for the Care of the Fish Gene Pool or the Center for the Care of the Tree Gene Pool. Participants will get to know all the places with an explanation about the surrounding nature. It is necessary to reserve a place for the walk in advance.
