Poprad – mesto minulosti, prítomnosti, no predovšetkým budúcnosti. Rozprestiera sa v juhozápadnej časti úrodnej a poľnohospodársky priaznivej Popradskej kotliny na oboch brehoch rieky Poprad na rozlohe 63,05 km2. Mesto je obklopené horami – najkrajším a najatraktívnejším masívom Slovenska Vysokými Tatrami, miernejšími Belianskymi Tatrami so zaujímavou faunou a flórou, Levočským pohorím, nízkou pahorkatinou Kozích chrbtov a pahorkatinou Štrbského rozvodia, ktoré sú priaznivé pre všetky športy a hospodárske využitie. Poprad je súčasťou Prešovského kraja a je jeho druhým najľudnatejším mestom. V roku 2017 tu žije 50 416 obyvateľov. Po roku 1945 boli k pôvodne stredovekému mestu Poprad pripojené v minulosti samostatné mestá – Veľká, Spišská Sobota, Stráže a Matejovce. Súčasťou mesta je aj rekreačná osada Kvetnica.
