The most beautiful part of Poprad is Spišská Sobota, which has preserved its historic character to this day. To this day, the Spišskosobot square is beautified by houses built in the Renaissance period. This has attracted many film directors to shoot historical scenes into their films. It is located in the northeastern part of the city above the river Poprad. The important monuments include the church of St. Juraj, where we can admire the late Gothic winged altars and the main altar from the workshop of Master Paul of Levoča. The whole city district is declared a city monument reserve.
