Historicky najmladšou mestskou časťou mesta Poprad sú Stráže, ktoré boli podľa historických prameňov slovenskou strážnou osadou. Prvá zmienka je z roku 1276. Jediným zdrojom obživy bolo pre obyvateľov poľnohospodárstvo. Stráže sú situované na návrší na juhovýchode Popradu. Dominantami sú renovovaná budova radnice a kostol sv. Jána Krstiteľa na Strážskom námestí. Poskytujú dobrý výhľad na celé mesto Poprad. Dnes sú Stráže druhou najmenšou mestskou časťou s asi 600 obyvateľmi.
