Blue print - where did it come from and how did it become established under the Tatras? How did the craft technique for producing cloth for peasants become a UNESCO World Heritage Site?
We invite you on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 from 4:30 - 6:00 p.m. to the Podtatra Museum in Poprad - we will commemorate the 250th anniversary of the founding of the dye workshop in Hranovnica and the 50th anniversary of the end of its activities with a lecture by the blue printmaker and ethnologist Mgr. Adam Benko during the cultural event "The Story of F a r b i a r a El e m i r a".
The dye workshop in Hranovnica was one of the longest operating workshops in Slovakia.
The event will also include demonstrations of historical objects used in the blue-printing technique and memories of the last blue-printer from Hranovnica - Elemír Montšek, whose death also destroyed the workshop in Hranovnica.
The event will take place in the lecture rooms of the Podtatra Museum in Poprad, Vajanského 72/4, 058 01 Poprad.
Admission is voluntary.
Program change reserved.
We look forward to your visit!
