The memorial is dedicated to the memory of Slovak climbers - the victims of Mount Everest. Jozef Psotka together with Ang Rit and Zolo Demján ascended to the top of Mount Everest on October 15, 1984 after climbing the southern pillar. Jozef Psotka died while descending from the South Saddle.
