The Podtatranské Museum in Poprad and the Prešov Self-Governing Region invite you to a lecture and guided tour of the exhibition "The Prince of Poprad and His Tomb" titled "Two Decades of Research: The Story of a 1600-Year-Old Germanic Tomb from Poprad-Matejovce".

In 2006, an extraordinary discovery was excavated in Poprad-Matejovce – a Germanic princely tomb dating back to the late 4th century AD. This find significantly expanded knowledge about a brief yet historically key period at the end of the Roman Era preceding permanent Slavic settlement in Slovakia.

During the lecture and guided tour, you will learn about the circumstances of the discovery, the demanding preservation process, and scientific evaluation. Discover how the permanent exhibition was created, what treasures survived, and who the young prince buried beneath the Tatras was.
