Historička Hana Kubátová v knihe Kde líšky dávajú dobrú noc : kresťanský nacionalizmus a holokaust na Slovensku skúma, ako sa formovanie národného štátu počas druhej svetovej vojny prepojilo s kolektívnou zradou a genocídou. Ukazuje, že holokaust nebol len „importovanou“ tragédiou, ktorú Slovensku vnútilo nacistické Nemecko, ale procesom, na ktorom sa podieľali samotní Slováci – politické a náboženské elity, miestni funkcionári aj bežní občania. Táto kniha narúša pohodlný mýtus o Slovensku ako obeti nacistického diktátu a kladie otázku, ako sa mohla krajina, ktorá sa prezentovala ako kresťanská a národná, stať aktívnym účastníkom holokaustu.
Kubátová prináša odpoveď podloženú množstvom dôkazov, ktoré hovoria, že k holokaustu neviedli len rozhodnutia mocných. Umožnili ho každodenné prejavy lojality, kompromisov a chamtivosti, a to aj v tých najodľahlejších kútoch krajiny, kde líšky dávajú dobrú noc. Historická analýza udalostí sa prelína s varovaním pred silou nacionalistických ideológií prekračujúcich hranice – geografické aj časové.
