There are artists whose music becomes the soundtrack of entire generations, and there are poets whose words can caress the soul and touch the living. When these two worlds are connected in one personality, a phenomenon named Karel Plíhal is created - he is synonymous with a refined sense of humor, subtle irony, unforgettable melodies and masterfully pointed lyrics. He has been on the scene for a respectable four decades. Since his first solo performance in 1983, he has come a long way in his art. He became a four-time winner of the prestigious Porto Prize, wrote a number of award-winning stage compositions for theaters and films, and his original album Vzduchoprázdniny earned academic recognition in the form of the Anděl Prize. However, Plíhal's work does not age - proof of this is also the latest balance project to date, Albums and Bonuses from 2018.

What makes Karel Plíhal a truly great person is his unwavering personality. Although health complications have placed serious obstacles in his way in the past, his desire to create and share the joy of music with the audience has never faded. Quite the opposite. Plíhal has adapted, transformed his expression, and most recently enriched his beloved songs with playing the mandola. This unique string instrument, tuned a fifth lower, adds a completely new, deeper and more breathing dimension to his compositions.

On concert stages, he is accompanied by the great guitarist Petr Fiala. Their connection is not just a professional partnership – it is a deep human and musical understanding that the audience can sense from the first note. The guitar and mandolin complement each other on stage with absolute precision, creating an intimate backdrop for Plíhal’s brilliant poetic miniatures and songs.

Slovak fans can look forward to a cross-section of the best from Plíhal’s forty-year oeuvre, but the artist is also constantly working on brand new songs that will be performed live during this tour. Live concerts are where his songs gain even greater power. The closeness of the audience, the subtle humor between the songs and the authentic expression make each performance a personal experience.
