Príďte sa presvedčiť, že aj v nezmyselnej dobe sa dá prežiť, ak jej dáme zmysel svojimi činmi.
UDRI PASTIERA fragmenty zo života blahoslaveného biskupa Pavla Petra Gojdiča.
Posledným dielom, ktoré slovenský prozaik Vincent Šikula napísal, bol krátky román Udri pastiera. Dielo s bohato štruktúrovaným príbehom o živote gréckokatolíckeho biskupa Pavla Petra Gojdiča však zostalo nedokončené. Autorovu tvorivú prácu prerušila náhla smrť. Poslednými slovami, ktorými rukopis románu končil, boli len skratky „etc. etc.“
Základným impulzom vzniku inscenácie Udri pastiera bola adaptácia Šikulovho románu, ktorú režisér a autor dramatizácie Kamil Žiška doplnil o ďalšie materiály, aby čo najkomplexnejšie vykreslil život dnes už blahoslaveného biskupa Gojdiča. Ani autor prozaickej predlohy, Vincent Šikula, nezostáva v Žiškovej režijnej koncepcii na okraji, a tak ako v Božskej komédii sprevádza básnik Vergílius básnika Danteho infernom, tak v inscenácii Udri pastiera putuje učeň Šikula s majstrom Gojdičom peklom dvadsiateho storočia.
V hudobno-obrazovej kompozícii inscenácie, pozostávajúcej z fragmentov Gojdičovho života, Šikula nanovo formuje svoj román, aby si overil pôvodné autorské náčrty. Tým, že sa dotýka života blahoslaveného biskupa, reflektuje aj svoj vlastný príbeh.
V hlavnej úlohe biskupa Gojdiča sa predstaví Eugen Libezňuk, v úlohe spisovateľa Vincenta Šikulu Ľubomír Raši a ako muž v sivom Michal Novák.
