Open door day in ARC Gánovce
On March 22, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., on the occasion of the World Meteorological Day, an open day will be held at the Aerologic and Radiation Center (ARC) of the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute in Gánovce near Poprad. Visitors will learn how an aerological measurement is made, how total ozone and the solar ultraviolet index are related, why aerosol monitoring is important, and how the climate around Poprad is changing. In addition to the interpretation, they can also familiarize themselves with the measuring technique. The joint launch of the meteorological balloon with the radiosonde will begin at 12:00 p.m. In cooperation with the Podtatranske Museum, an expert interpretation of the archaeological site in the village of Gánovce will be provided from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. All visitors are warmly welcome.
